Methodology

The programme is designed as a 'hands on' programme, comprising theoretical background together with a strong component of application exercises and projects. All subjects follow the sequence theory, application exercises, projects and discussions. Independent work is stimulated, either in classroom or tutored, during and after course. Lectures and all working material, and evaluation will be in English.

Students will be asked to participate in group discussions and presentations, write short essays, produce visual and theoretical research and answer multiple choice exams. A key feature of the programme will be the facilitation of the sharing of multinational perspectives regarding the assessment and appropriate management of semiotics and advertising. The venue has an excellent IT infrastructure as well as state of the art laboratory; library and access to online data bases and scientific journals.

Target groups

The target groups of the IP are graduate, post-graduate, PhD students and researchers form different academic backgrounds, departments and schools who are interested in researching, implementing, analyzing and understanding Semiotic theories in the context of Advertising Communication and contemporary culture. It could also attract practitioners from the industry, like graphic and visual designers as well as people from the Mass Media and Communication Studies and other relevant fields of visual communication.

Main Activities

The main activities of the IP will be thematic lectures, demonstrations, projection of visual materials, practical exercises, assignments and individual instruction. Group discussions will also be taking place concerning interchange of ideas on given topics. Outside the academic context, students and participants will have the opportunity to use the University's facilities like the Library, the gym and the athletic center, visits to the local historical museums of Lemesos.
